Great show, Nancy and Kim! Both personally and with my patients, I use mindfulness to work with fear. When we bring a sense of curiosity and acceptance to the body sensations that accompany fear (for example, tight chest, tense muscles, butterflies in stomach), we can notice the fear without resisting it. This allows us to feel it and not be ruled by, avoid, or fearful of it. In this way we can learn to manage the fear rather than it managing us. Deirdre is such an inspiration - great story!
